I trimmed down my replacment panel to slightly bigger than the opening and screwed it in place temporarily to test fit. The dotted white line shows me where the bottom edge of the underlying piece is. I butt jointed the rocker panel to quarter panel seam. The two pieces had significantly different profiles (one rounded the other more angular) that wouldn't let me insert the tapered quarter inside the rocker so I had to do it this way. Hopefully the transition is not going to be too noticeable at the bottom of the car. Looks ok so far.
