Here's the first piece that I had to remove sitting next to the new modified piece. Instead of the captured nut being in the little bracket I had to mount it inside the cap. I pop riveted that little cover on the side instead of welding it in case the nut ever had to be changed. Putting the nut right inside the cover gave me the clearance I needed to have some adjustment for the fender.
