Ultimately, I had to put more of a bend on the lip of the opening. That caused the piece to curl up again and now I could no longer get the jaws of my stretcher on to the lip to stretch it out again. Wound up having to cut the thing into pieces so I could work each piece separately minimizing the effect of the bending across the hole piece. I wound up making slits in the curver portions, bending to the shape I needed, then welding the slits shut again. In all there are 7 pieces I made to fill this area. You can see 6 of them in this picture.
