The block is standard bore. The block was magged, pressure tested, head faces resurfaced, and cylinders deglazed. New rings were installed but it retains its original pistons, rod and main bearings. All main and rod bearings plastigaged at .001 to .0015 and showed little wear so they were reused. New cam shaft bearings, frost plugs, and balancer were installed. Heads had no issues and were decked and freshened up with a valve grind, seats touched up, and bronze guides. New springs were installed. New Camshaft and lifters installed, and all car components are there - car timing set, car valve covers, car single point distributor, car water pump. Pulleys are small block chevy. This is a 409 clone motor so the valve covers are painted as a '62 409.
Additional new parts installed - Best full gasket set, Champion 4044 plugs, plug wires, oil pump, oil filter, thermostat, fuel pump, distributor cap, points and rotor, starter, exhaust manifold studs, belts, choke tube, dipstick and tube, fuel line, newer one wire alternator.
The previous owner told me that is is a 1965 348 block and is the only year of 348 that is machined to accept the larger counterweights found on the 409 crankshaft, so this block could be bored out to be a 409. Not everyone seems to agree on this point. Current horse power is estimated at 250hp.
